IPL 2020: Team Yuzvendra Chahal beat Team Virat Kohli in the Intra Royal Challengers Bangalore squad practice match ahead of the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2020. Yuzvender Chahal's team included big names like AB de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, Umesh Yadav and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed. On the other hand, Virat Kohli, the RCB's captain had the likes of Dale Steyn, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar and Parthiv Patel in his team. The main aim of this kind of Intra-squad match is to provide players with a match like an experience and prepare them for the upcoming matches in the tournament.

The match was played on a slow-moving track where South African danger man ''Mr. 360'' AB de Villiers scored 43 (33) including 3 fours and 2 big sixes, who opened the batting with Devdutt Padikkal for Team Chahal who batted first. Both gave them a flying start and played some eye-catching strokes and the duo made 125 on a wicket where runs were difficult to come.

However, RCB camp will be thinking about an improvement In their bowling department. South Africa great Dale Steyn bowled 4 overs for Team Kohli but he was wicket-less while the pick of the bowlers was all-rounder Washington Sundar took 2/11 in 4 overs while Shahbaz Ahmed got 3/13.

Since teams couldn't play practice matches with another team due to Covid-19, Intra-squad practice match is the best alternative available with the teams.  Royle Challenger Bangalore key players like Aaron Finch, Moeen Ali and Adam Zampa yet to join the squad for IPL 2020 and they are expected to reach UAE on 18th of September. 

Director of cricket of RCB, Mike Hesson said "We looked about matchups, wanted our bowlers to bowl to left and right-handers and look at some possibilities in terms of partnerships through the order. We wanted each team to have left-arm spinners, off-spinners and leg-spinners and provide matchups," added Hesson. "It was a challenging surface and got out different skills. It certainly exposed some extra things we need to work on. Overall, the conditions were challenging," said Hesson after the game.
