Spinner Sunil Narine not selected against SunRisers Hyderabad, KKR captain Eoin Morgan reveals reason

In the first match of the day between KKR and SRH Sunil Narine did not feature for Kolkata despite receiving clearance from IPL Committee over controversial action. KKR Captain reveals the reason behind Narine absence.

Sunil Narine not selected in playing 11 against SRH

IPL 2020 SRH vs KKR: Kolkata Knight Riders newly appointed captain Eoin Morgan revealed the reason behind Sunil Narine's absence in the playing 11 against SunRisers Hyderabad match today. Narine who got clearance from IPL committee for his bowling action was expected to be included in the starting line up today. 

During the toss, Eoin Morgan told, " He (Narine) is not fully fit and the management has decided not to take any risk. It is obviously nice to have him back, but since he is not at full fitness we don't want to take any impulsive decision. The management wants him to take some rest and ensure he is fit for the upcoming matches ".

Narine was reported for suspected bowling action against Kings XI Punjab on October 10. Kolkata applied against the report and sent videos of his bowling action to the IPL committee. IPL Committee after scrutinising the videos with utmost care came up the conclusion that elbow bent in Sunil Narine's action is within the permissible limit and he can again bowl for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Talking about the game, KKR made two changes in their starting line up, Lockie Ferguson gets his first start of the season. He replaced Chris Green. And Kuldeep Yadav replaces Prasidh Krishna.

Shubman Gill (36) and Eoin Morgan (39) helped KKR to score 165 in their 20 overs. Dinesh Karthik (29*), Nitish Rana (29) and Rahul Tripathi (23) were other major contributors for Kolkata Knight Riders

At the end of the powerplay, SunRisers Hyderabad are 57/0. Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson are batting at 28(18) and 29(18) respectively. SRH needed 107 runs more in 14 overs.
