South Africa Squads against Sri Lanka: South African right-arm quick Migael Pretorius has received his maiden call-up in the 16-member South Africa squad for the upcoming Betway Test Series against Sri Lanka, kick-starting from Boxing Day. Quinton de Kock to lead the Proteas against Karunanratne-led Sri Lanka Team. South African ruthless pacer Kagiso Rabada and all-rounder Dwain Pretorius have not been medically cleared for the much-awaited upcoming series. The Proteas will meet Sri Lanka in the first Test in Pretoria on Saturday.
The 24-year-old all-rounder Migael Pretorius has had a marvelous season so far in the four-day domestic season under the coaching of former fast-bowler Allan Donald. Pretorius is currently third on the tournament’s leading wicket-takers table with 19 wickets from five matches with his best bowling figures of seven for 102 against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins last month.
He made his List A debut for Northerns against North West on Dec 13, 2015.
Cricket South Africa Convenor of Selectors Victor Mpitsang said “We’re pleased to include Migael in the Proteas Test squad for the Sri Lanka series. We’re big on rewarding consistently good work and the player has done a lot to make a case for himself.”
“We hope that this experience will be a great learning one for him and that this can serve as encouragement for players across the country, showing them that their chances may not be as far off as they think,” he added.
