IND vs ENG 1st Test: India and England (IND vs ENG) are battling with each other in the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In reply to ENG's mammoth 578, Team India lost its four wickets quite early, meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara slams his 29th Test half-century whereas Pant scored his 5th fifty. Indian Skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane were dismissed by English spinner Dom Bess in quick succession.

Pant and Pujara propel India to recover and take India to 173/4 on Day 3. India still trails by 424 runs and have to go a long way in the first Test. Rishabh Pant has been sensational so far by playing a breathtaking counter-attacking fifty. Pant was unbeaten on 54 and Pujara was batting on 53 when the umpire called the team at Chepauk.

The duo of Pant and Pujara put on an unbreakable 100+ stand for the fifth wicket. Meanwhile, the perfectionist Cheteshwar Pujara has looked assured as ever, showing why he's such a good player of spin with lovely footwork. Still, England would be happy with that session. For England, Archer and Bess took a piece of wickets.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma (6) and Shubman Gill (29) failed to get going as they were dismissed by Jofra Archer after England posted a mammoth total of 578.

Earlier in the first session on Day 3, England added 23 runs to their overnight total to reach 578 in their first innings. On day two of the ongoing first Test, skipper Joe Root notched his fifth double-ton (218 off 377) and he became the first player to score a double century in his 100th Test. For India, Bumrah and Ashwin took three wickets while Nadeem and Ishant picked a couple of wickets each.
