Meanwhile, the second Test will also feature another feat for the Kiwis pacer Neil Wagner's 50th appearance in white-ball cricket for New Zealand. the Black Caps are already leading the Test series by 1-0. From the West Indies' point of view, the veteran pacer Shannon Gabriel will add another milestone when he steps out to the field. This is his 50th international Test match.

The Black Caps had defeated the Indies by an inning and 134 runs in the first Test of the two-match series. The Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson notched his highest individual Test score of 251 studded with 34 fours and 2 over the ropes. As a result, he has moved to the second spot in the ICC Men's Test Rankings for batsmen.

Meanwhile, Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Wednesday has announced that their main wicket-keeper Shane Dowrich and pacer Kemar Roach will be missing the upcoming second Test against New Zealand. Both players will return home now. Roach is doing so as his father passed away while Shane Dowrich is doing so for personal reasons which will give an opportunity for Joshua da Silva to make his Test debut.

The pitch was green as there was plenty of grass on it. Looking at that, West Indies put New Zealand into bat first after winning the toss. That would have been the ideal choice on such a surface. However, the rain isn't likely to play much of a role in the five-dayers match.
