Mohammad Rizwan scored his career-best 89 to prevent New Zealand from claiming a clean sweep in the third T20I in Napier on Tuesday. Chasing a stiff total of 174, the Pakistan cricket team made a brisk start with Mohammad Rizwan taking the cleaners. When PAK needed 11 of 12 balls, all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed stepped up and hit a massive six to seal the win and saved a series whitewash. Meanwhile, New Zealand still won the Betway T20I series by 2-1. Now Pakistan cricket team will be aiming for the two-match Test series, kick start on Dec 26 at Bay Oval.

Mohammad Hafeez also continued his peak form with the bat, while Faheem Ashraf grabbed three wickets as Pakistan avoided a series whitewash against the Kiwis. Rizwan added a 72-run stand with Mohammad Hafeez to put Pakistan in a commanding position before they fell later during Pakistan's chase.

Mohammad Rizwan has been adjudged as Player of the Match while Tim Seifert named as 'Player of the Series' award for his exceptional batting along with wicket-keeping skills.

Earlier, Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips propelled the Black Caps back to a par total of 173/7 in 20 overs. Conway was New Zealand's top-scorer, getting 63 off 45 deliveries studded with 7 fours and 1 over the rope. Seifert and Phillips are contributed well atop the order for NZL. Faheem Ashraf was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, taking three key wickets by conceding just 20 runs in his four overs.

Seifert said ''It is good to have a good series. The main thing is to get the series win, unfortunately, we couldn't win today but credit to Pakistan, they played well to win this game. It is T20, you get a couple of wickets and it is game on. I thought the surface became better with the dew coming in.

''Our bowlers stuck to it nicely. We had a good T20 series against the West Indies and then went into the Tests which was awesome to see, hopefully, the red-ball lads can back it up and do the same, very exciting for the Boxing Day Test. We are actually playing against Pakistan A in Hamilton and it is the Super Smash after that.''
