IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians team SWOT Analysis
Mumbai Indians team- Dream11 IPL 2020

Mumbai Indians is the most successful team in the history of the IPL. MI have won four IPL titles- 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. They are one of the favorites to win IPL 2020. The 13th season of the Indian Premier League will start on 19th September. The first match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at 7:30 PM (IST) in Abu Dhabi. Since there are only three days left for IPL 2020 to start, here is the SWOT analysis of Mumbai Indians team.

Mumbai Indians Team SWOT Analysis

Strength

World Class All-rounder in the team

Mumbai Indians have one of the world's best all-rounder in their team. Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Kurnal Pandya are some key all-rounders in Mumbai Indians Squad. They can perform with both bat and ball. In the previous seasons, Pollard and Pandya brothers have time and again saved Mumbai Indians from adverse situations. T20 is the shortest format of the game, having good all-rounder in the team strength both batting and bowling of the team. MI all-rounders will play a key role in the upcoming season of IPL 2020.

Best IPL Bowling lineup

No doubt Mumbai Indians have the best bowling line up in IPL 2020. With players like- Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, James Pattinson etc. they can devastate any batting line up. However, their most experienced bowler Malinga has pulled out of IPL due to personal reason this is very unlikely to impact Mumbai bowling attack. They have world best players who can easily fill the void left by Malinga. Mumbai have a good blend of experience and fresh bowlers in their squad.

Weakness

Inexperienced Bowling attack

In UAE pitches are slow and dry, pace bowlers are likely to get no or little help from the pitch. Spin Bowlers will play a pivotal role in IPL 2020. Mumbai Indians spin bowling is one of the weakest in this IPL. Jayant Yadav is the only experienced bowler they have. However, he has only played four test and ODI for India. Mumbai Indians might struggle in UAE with such unexperienced spin bowling line up.

Too much dependency on Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has been a regular performer for the Mumbai Indians. No matters what the occasion the skipper has always come out on top and proved himself. At number of occasions it has happened that Mumbai Indians batting line up collapsed without Rohit Sharma. If Rohit Sharma fails to score runs then Mumbai Indians fails to set an appropriate total. The too much dependency on Rohit Sharma is team's biggest weakness.

Opportunities

First team to win five IPL title

In the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League Mumbai Indians have the opportunity to win their 5th IPL title. They are currently the only team to win four IPL titles- 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. If they stand up for the occasion and redeem this opportunity then they also not only increase the gap between them and CSK (3 titles) but also remain untouchable at the top for at least two years.

Threats

Difficulty in Choosing overseas players

The only threat Mumbai Indians have this season is difficulty in choosing overseas players. Only four overseas players are allowed in playing XI.  Mumbai Indians squad have eight overseas players. It would be difficult for them to choose among overseas bowlers and batsman. Kieron Pollard is one of the first players to be named in playing XI. This has left with three more to choose from De Kock, Boult, Chris Lynn, Rutherford etc. Mumbai Indians can face difficulty while choosing playing XI.

Mumbai Indians will play their first game against Chennai Super Kings on 19th September at 7:30 PM (IST) in Abu Dhabi.
