Misbah-ul-haq to resign form Chief Selector role

Misbah ul haq former Pakistan captain has resigned from the chief selector post of Pakistan Cricket National Team. He made the announcement via a press conference today. He was holding two posts and now will solely focus on the head coach role of Pakistan Cricket Team.

Making the announcement Misbah said, " There is no disagreement between me and board and I want to solely focus on the role of Head Coach of the team. My passion for the game is what has convinced me to take this decision. I am more interested in working with players on the field.

After the departure of Mickey Arthur in 2019, Pakistan board appointed Misbah ul haq for the duel posts i.e Chief Selector and Head Coach. He signed three years contract with the board. Misbah became the first person to hold two posts concurrently in Pakistan Cricket Board. Under Mishab reign Men in green have failed to reach their full potential and are performing poorly.

Misbah started his new journey with a 2-0 win against Sri Lanka in the ODI series. However, Sri Lanka bounced back in the T20 series and Whitewashed Pakistan by 3-0 in their home ground. The devastating form continues for Pakistan as they failed to register a single victory on their tour of Australia where they played 3 T20I and 2 test matches. 

Last year they also lost their first-ever Test series in England since 2010. Under Misbah reign, Pakistan have played 21 matches. They managed to win only seven matches. As per reports, Due to continues bad performance Pakistan Board asked Misbah to resign on chief selector post and focus only on head coach post recently.

Misbah took retirement from across all formats of cricket in 2017. He is Pakistan most successful captain winning 26 out of 56 matches. Shoib Akhtar is rumoured to be the next chief selector of the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
