MI vs CSK IPL 2020 First Match: The 13th season of the Indian Premier League will be in UAE. The tournament will be unveiled by the clash between four times champions Mumbai Indians and Two times Champion Chennai Super Kings on 19th September in Abu Dhabi. Mumbai and Chennai are arch-rivals and this rivalry took birth in the first season itself. MI and CSK were a part of the numerous epic encounters in the history of IPL. Most of the time MI and CSK have faced each other it had been a treat to watch for the fans. Let's look at some epic encounters between the side.

2011 season ( Mumbai won by eight runs)  

Mumbai Indians faced Chennai Super Kings on 22nd April 2011 in the group stages encounter. Winning toss CSK invited the home side to bat first. Batting first Mumbai scored 164/4 in their 20 overs. Rohit Sharma scored 87 in 48 balls. While chasing Chennai had a decent start to the inning. CSK were 97/2 in the 12th over. From there they started collapsing, from 97/2 to 140/9, they lost six wickets on 40 runs. Harbhajan Singh was chief destructor for MI. His five wickets haul completely wrecked CSK batsmen. At one point it was looking Mumbai Indians will lose the match but a splendid spell from Bhaji snatched Victory from the CSK. 

2008 season (Chennai Super Kings won by six runs) 

In the inaugural season, Chennai faced Mumbai on 23rd April 2008. The match was played in MA Chidambaram Stadium, home ground of Chennai Super Kings. Batting first CSK set the target of 209 in front of MI. it was an all-round performance from CSK as each player did his bit. In return Mumbai Indias could only manage 202 only. Matthew Hayden was Chosen at the Man of the match for his innings of 81 runs in 46 balls. 

2012 Season (Mumbai Indians won by two wickets) 

In 2012 season Mumbai welcomed Chennai Super kings for a group stage tie. Winning toss Mumbai Indians elected to bowl first. CSK scored 173 in their 20 overs. Murli Vijay was top scorer for CSK, he scored 41 runs in 29 balls. During the Chase MI 126 runs partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma made things each for MI, but CSK made a comeback and took multiple wickets in quick succession. From 1/133 to MI stumbled to 8/159. Dareen Smith took the command and saved Mumbai Indians. Arduously Mumbai Indians won the match by two wickets. 

2018 Season (Chennai Super Kings won by one wicket) 

This is one of the closest encounters in the history of IPL. In 2018 IPL opening game, Mumbai Indians batting first scored 165 in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan (40 from 29) and Suryakumar Yadav (43 from 29) helped the team in recovering from a bad start and took MI to a respectable total. Batting second Chennai Super Kings kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. After the end of the 19th over, the score was 9-159 and their set batsman DJ Bravo (68 runs in 38 balls) was sent to pavilion by Jasprit Bumrah. Seven runs required in the last over. Kedar Jahdav was on strike. The first four balls were dot balls, Jadhav hits a six on the 5th ball and four on the last and final delivery of the game to win the game for CSK. 

2019 Season IPL final (Mumbai Indians won by one run) 

The 2019 IPL final was full of dream and was the most entertaining final in the Indian Premier League history. Mumbai Indians came out to bat first. MI could build any big partnership and were losing wickets at regular interval of time. There only positive from the innings was Kieron Pollard 41 runs in 25 balls.  Mumbai set a target of 150 to Chennai. The target looked easy and easily approachable. Shane Watson 80 runs 59 balls provided the much-needed start to Chennai. However, after some time Chennai kept losing wicket at one end with One end firmly hold by Shane Watson. CSK needed nine in the last over. Malinga was ready to ball, Inform Shane Watson was on strike. On the 4th ball of the over Watson tried to take two runs and in the process was run out by Kurnal Pandya. This broke Chennai hopes. With two runs needed with one ball remaining, Malinga bowled a slower yorker completely deceived Thakur and he was bowled out. Malinga excellent last over won the match and IPL for Mumbai Indians. Their 4th IPL title.
