Kings XI Punjab Captian KL Rahul scores the maiden century of IPL 2020 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rahul scored 132* on 69 balls at a whopping strike rate of 191.30. The Indian international whipped 14 boundaries and seven sixes during his innings. Kings XI Punjab set the target of 207 for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
KL Rahul was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019. Grabbing the opportunity Kings XI Punjab bought KL Rahul for 11 cr in IPL auction 2018. He was named captain of the Kings XI Punjab team before IPL 2020. Rahul came out to start the innings with Mayank Agarwal, the pair fired all blaze in the powerplay and scored 50 runs in the first six overs.
KL Rahul completed his half-century in the 12th over and shifted gears afterwards. He just took 26 balls more to score the first century of IPL 2020. As it is said luck favours the brave, Rahul was twice dropped during his innings. First, in the 17th over, Steyn bowls a low full toss to Rahul who tries to send it over the ropes but mistimed it. The ball went straight into Kohli hand who surprisingly drops it. Again in the next over, Navdeep Saini deceives Rahul with a slower ball, in an attempt to send it over the fence he skies it high in the sky towards the long-off, once again the Culprit was Virat Kohli. RCB captain ran towards the ball and got underneath it but couldn't grab it as the ball skimmed through his hands.
The missed chance proved costly for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rahul completes his century in the very next over. He smashed 26 and 23 runs in the 19th and 20th over respectively to guide Kings XI Punjab to 200 runs mark. Kohli is considered as one of the best fielders in the world, and two catches dropped and that too in the same match shows He is Human and also can commit mistakes.
