The table-toppers Sydney Sixers hammers their city fellows Sydney Thunder by five wickets (DLS method) in the 37th BBL league game played at Manuka Oval. The revised target is being given for the Sixers - 129 from 14 overs which they get with ease with 8 balls to go. Both openers Philippe and Avendano pulled off a flier and the duo put 50-run stand for the opening wicket.

Philippe takes the Thunder's attack to the cleaners and blasts 23 runs off the second over of SYS innings. With this win, the Sixers consolidate their top spot with 29 points from 10 matches while SYT still holds their second spot.

The wicket-keeper batsman notched a scintillating half-century in just 24 balls and took his side home without any interruptions along with Windies Carlos Brathwaite, who hits the winning four. Philippe remains unbeaten on 64 studded with 7 fours and a couple of massive sixes. For Thunder, Sams picked a couple while McAndrew, Sangha, and Cutting picked one wicket each.

In-form Alex Hales launched a blistering fifty (54) which taking them to 86 in the first 10 overs. After that, the Sixers make a comeback led by Steve O'Keefe whose magical spell swinging the momentum back to the magenta. Daniel Sams played a blitz cameo down the order and remain unbeaten on 50* off 37, comprising four boundaries which helped Thunders to post a competitive 166 for 6 in their 20 overs. Steve OKeefe claimed 3/15 in his 4 overs and awarded 'Man of the Match' for his match-defining spell.

Earlier, Sydney Sixers have won the toss and have opted to field first. Sydney Thunder makes two X-Factor substitutes in the form of Brendan Doggett and Oliver Davies while Hayden Kerr and Ben Manenti are for the Sixers.
