IPL 2021: IPL 2021 is not too far from here and is expected to be held shortly and it will be scheduled to be held between April to June in India. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) along with the IPL Governing Council (IGC) is likely to include two new teams for the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) although, the final call would be taken after the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the BCCI's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Ahmedabad last month, the members had given approval to the inclusion of two new franchises in the IPL. The BCCI had also decided to host IPL  2021 in India itself along with a bilateral series with England in February. BCCI can’t delay IPL 2021 as the ICC T20 World Cup is also hosted by India. There is not enough time to organize the IPL 2021 Mini-auction ahead of the upcoming season. One thing is certain now that Ahmedabad will be included for the next season.

IPL Governing Council (IGC) planning to add 2 more teams, you may see 10 teams playing in IPL 2021. There is a total of 60 matches will be played in IPL 2021. In case if two more new teams added the number of league matches will definitely increase. Also, the Overseas player’s quota could be increased from 4 to 5 in IPL 2021.

The names of Lucknow, Kanpur, and Pune will only come for discussion if the BCCI decides to increase more than one team for IPL 2021.

There would be a total of 8 teams as usual. Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challenger Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab, and Chennai Super Kings will be part of IPL 2021 teams.

In the meantime, BCCI is looking to add a new franchise to the IPL 2021. If this decision is successfully implemented, then we can see a new addition to the IPL franchise list. So there might be a total of 9 teams fighting for the title, making things more interesting and thrilling.
