IPL 2021 Auction: Kaif & Amre will lead Delhi Capitals in absence of head coach Ponting

Indian Premier League IPL 2021 Auction: Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer will not be going to Chennai. Instead, Mohammad Kaif and Praveen Amre will be part of the team management.

IPL 2021 Auction table: Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting and skipper Shreyas Iyer will not attend the IPL 2021 Auction to be held in Chennai, according to the latest sources. Assistant coaches Mohammed Kaif and Praveen Amre will lead the IPL 2020 runners-up at the IPL auctions in absence of Ponting. Besides, the duo, the team management will also have Chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi and owner Parth Jindal or Sajjan Jindal and the analyst team seated at the table. 

“Ricky (Ponting) and Shreyas Iyer will not be going to Chennai. Instead, Mohd. Kaif and Amre will be part of team management. Besides them, the Chairman, owners, and analysts will be travelling to Chennai,” said the official.

Delhi Capitals Remaining purse

Delhi Capitals (DC) has released six players ahead of the auctions. The runner-ups of IPL 2020 have eight available slots including three overseas players. They will be taking the seats at the auction in Chennai with a purse of Rs 13.4 crores.

IPL 2021 Auction: Delhi Capitals could sign some big guns

Having retained their core, DC would be eager to look for a backup for their star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. The Australian all-rounder has been struggling with fitness off-late and the Delhi-team would want a backup plan in case Stoinis gets injured during the season.
