IPL 2020 Update: BCCI may announce schedule soon! Audience may be allowed: Reports

After BCCI gets written approval from Government to go ahead with IPL 2020 in UAE. As earlier it was announced that IPL 2020, will be held in UAE amid Covid-19 scare in India. Although the BCCI had earlier received in-principle permission from the government, written permission was required to finalize the contract with the Emirates Cricket Board   

With the government clearances coming in, the upcoming Indian Premier League is all set to start from September 19th. Normally the schedule for the IPL is announced minimum 40-45 days before the event so that teams can plan their logistics, broadcasters can plan their campaigns and team sponsors can finalize their integrations accordingly. 

But the IPL Governing Council is yet to announce the schedule of the league. 

The hunt for this year’s IPL title sponsorship is still on, BCCI is likely to complete the process soon so they can further focus on the execution of the IPL 2020 in UAE. Expression of Interest (EOI) to be issued soon, letter of intent by the interest parties to be submitted by end of this week, deadline to submit bid by the parties is 18 August, bids opening will be on the same day.    

After which BCCI will announce the complete schedule, venue & timings of the matches will be announced soon!  

The matches will be held in three Venues of UAE that is, Dubai, Sharjah & Abu Dhabi. Evening matches will start at 7:30PM (IST) (6:00PM, UAE), whereas afternoon matches will start at 3:30OM (IST), (2PM, UAE). As of now the matches will be no-in person match, but for the later matches, audience may be allowed. BCCI is likely to make the pre-tournament practice camps available, starting from August 27.  

Detailed Standard Operation Procedure (SOP)’s is yet to be made public by the board. But various internal team protocols & board guidelines, which gives the glimpse of what the season could be like! There will be electronic team sheets & virtual team meetings, very less use of human interaction outside the ground will be made compulsory. Players & support staff to take Covid-19 tests at least four-time in 2 weeks before the start of the league.     

First match will be played between Mumbai Indians & Chennai Super Kings in UAE!
