IPL 2020 UAE: Who will be the next title sponsor of IPL, after Vivo pulls out its sponsorship amid backlash

After BCCI’s decision of retaining its title sponsor the Chinese brand Vivo, which landed BCCI into another controversy of blaze of backlash on social media & from various organizations.  

Soon after Vivo the Chinese phone manufacturer has opted out of the IPL 2020 title sponsorship, after disagreement with India’s cricket board over a discount on the sponsorship fee & in response to growing opposition to a Chinese company/brand backing the IPL tournament following the Galwan valley clash.   

Trivia: Vivo India had entered into contract with IPL in 2017 with a bid of 2199Crore for a period of five years, paying approximately 440Crore every year to the board.  

But as Vivo moves out, a big question arises that who will be the next title sponsor of this year’s IPL. Vivo which gives around 440Crore to the board every year, who will now come near to this huge figure?  

Many brands have started exploring about IPL’s title sponsorship. There’s been a whole lot of buzz & guessing game going all around the internet too. According to few them companies or brands like: Reliance JIOAmazonByju'sTata GroupCokeAmul & few others have already stated making calls to the BCCI office for the IPL 2020 title sponsorship. 

Reliance JIO has already been in the positive news amid the pandemic too. The biggest telecommunication company in India. The ongoing talks says it may be Reliance JIO IPL 2020 in the coming weeks. 

Byju’s an online education startup is said to be the contender for the upcoming IPL 2020 title sponsor. It is also worth knowing that Byju’s replaced Nokia as the team sponsor for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), actor Shah Rukh Khan is the co-owner of the team & also brand ambassador of Byju’s. 

Amazon can be in race of IPL 2020 title holder, a successful e-commerce website with coming festive season. Amazon is likely to enter the IPL title sponsor race. 

Few others like Tata Group, Amul, Coke can explore the opportunity too.  

IPL council member confirmed & will now request for new Request for Proposal (RFP). Now, that the Chinese brand Vivo has backed out as the title holder of IPL, with various given reasons. Let’s wait & see which brand or company takes over as the title holder of IPL 2020.   

“There is no need to sweat we will announce the title sponsor soon” said one of the BCCI officials.
