IPL 2020 in UAE; Proud of its Indo-Emirates Relation, says ECB

The 13th edition of IPL will be played in UAE, as it was announced earlier by BCCI chairman. After getting green signal from Central Government, players & fans are excited about the greatest sport event of the year.

After a ‘go ahead’ by Central Government, the Government of UAE & Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) say they consider this decision “a very big & exceptionally important move”.

As UAE takes up the challenge to play the great role in hosting of IPL2020 Khalid Al Zarooni, the Vice- Chairman of ECB, has opened up on the relationship between India & UAE. He said that is very proud of both countries' great relationship.

“The IPL aside, our relationship with the Indian government, the Indian public & Indian trade is also an important aspect of our history, one that we are extremely proud of. Such support between our countries can only benefit our relationships in the future.” he told The Times of India.

This time when most countries in the world have barred people from entering their territories, UAE is expecting an influx of visitors in excess of 1400 for IPL 2020, Al Zarooni said.

“All UAE Airports are highly effective facilities that excel in passenger processing & experience. We are one of world’s leading benchmarks for travel & safety to the highest standard; we have all confidence that any traffic flows through the UAE airports will be managed at the highest level.”

This is not the first time UAE is hosting the IPL. In 2014, they had hosted the initial phase matches because of general elections in India.

At the time of Pandemic, where most of the countries are deteriorating due to Covid 19, UAE is happy that their country was & is able to fight against this firmly. Everyone is looking forward & eagerly waiting for the tournament, fans from India will not be able to attend live matches but the other options of watching it up on your screen is always available.

Earlier ECB & Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had expressed their desire to host the IPL due to increase in cases of Corona & worsening of situation in India. The most exiting cricket tournament is going to start from 19th September as announced earlier.
