IPL 2020 starts today, Mumbai Indians will go head to head against Chennai Super Kings in season's opener

The 13th season of the Indian Premier League will start today. The 56 days long event will be kick started with Holders MI facing CSK in Abu Dhabi.

The moment which the whole cricket fans had been waiting for has finally arrived. The long Awaited Indian Premier League is going to start today. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are ready to battle out in the opening fixture of the Indian Premier League 2020. Holders Rohit army will go head to head against MS Dhoni experienced Side, The match will start at 7:30 PM (IST) in Adu Dhabi. The 13th season of the IPL will be played in UAE this season. After rampant Covid-19 cases in India BCCI decided to shift IPL to the United Arab Emirates. IPL 2020 was scheduled to be played in March and April. But, Worldwide lockdown resulted in the postponing of the tournament.

First, it looked like BCCI will cancel the IPL 2020 just like all other sporting events. ICC Men's T20 World Cup which was scheduled to be held in Australia was cancelled by ICC due to the Pandemic. BCCI took full advantage of the opportunity After T20 World Cup was cancelled BCCI got the perfect opportunity to fit in IPL in the ICC calendar. Since all the major events were cancelled Conducting IPL also didn't result in the clash of interest and dates for Crickting fans. In August BCCI broke out the ecstatic news and announced IPL will be held in UAE this year. 

All the teams reached UAE and strict protocols were followed by all the teams. IPL 2020 will be played in a Bio-Secure Bubble. Recently Australia and England's players have also joined their respective franchise in UAE. Teams are geared up and ready to battle out in the field. Total 60 matches will be played in 56 days. The matches will be played at three venues- Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
