IPL 2020: Royal Challenger Bangalore's Strength and Weakness
Strength and the leaking points of Virat Kohli-led RCB

IPL 2020 RCB vs SRH: Virat Kohli-led '' Men in Red'' Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) will take on Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians(MI) in their 3rd encounter today at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Both teams have world-class batsmen at the top of their order. RCB has been one of the most popular teams in the IPL over the years as they have the big guns like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle as well but they never lift the IPL title. Starting the season with a win is the best start one team can hope for. Both RCB and MI would be looking for a victory in their first IPL 2020 match.

Strength of RCB:

  • An excellent top order:
Kohli smashes for six
Kohli smashes for six

A right-handed top-order Indian batsman, Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world across all format. Royal Challenger Banglore-led by their star Indian batsman Virat Kohli will be the key factor again for his side. He is consistent throughout all seasons of IPL. Once again, Banglore-based franchise will be hoping that their skipper should deliver goods for them. After the departure of Chris Gayle from the side, the RCB top-order has looked exposed. However, they bought Australian aggressive opener Aaron Finch, in this season along with Parthiv Patel. Mr. 360 AB de Villiers will be playing his part for his side all seasons. the skipper Kolhi with ABD plays an important role once again if RCB wants to clinch their maiden IPL trophy.

  • Opportunity for young Indian players:
Devdutt Padikkal for RCB

Indian young emerging player Padikkal has a great opportunity to showcase his talent at the biggest level. The southpaw has been consistently churning out runs in the domestic circuit and an impressive season here could very well put him in selectors' scheme for the T20 World Cup in India next year. Umesh Yadav, who is out of India's limited-overs squads, could also use this opportunity to get back into the team by putting in good performances. Their most experienced leggy Yuzvendra Chahal could give RCB the spin arsenal as he has done a lot of time for their side in previous editions of IPL.

Weakness of RCB:

  • Too much relying on Virat and De Villiers:

The skipper Virat Kohli plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) in the Indian Premier League and has been the team’s captain since 2013. The over-dependency on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers is one of the biggest threats that the RCB team have possess. If either of them gets injured, it will be extremely tough for the RCB squad to bounce back again in the rest of the tournament. Aaron Finch, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali have ensured that they deliver their goods in the middle order and the best option at RCB’s campaign is Gurkeerat Mann, who has played only 12 games in the past 4 IPL seasons.

Worst past record: As we all know that Virat Kohli's Royal Challenger Banglore has been suffered from a lack of consistency in the previous editions of IPL. Their track record has not been as good either apart from the three finals in 2009, 2011 and 2016, they don't have much to show in the tournament. It wouldn't be wrong to say that RCB has been one of the under-performing teams in the IPL. So, they will be looking a positive start forgetting what would happen in the past.

RCB Full Squad for IPL 2020:

Virat Kohli (Captain), Parthiv Patel (Wicket-keeper), AB de Villiers, Chris Morris, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shivam Dubey, Aaron Finch, Umesh Yadav, Adam Zampa, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Dale Steyn, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi, Gurkeerat Mann Singh, Isuru Udana, Devdutt Padikkal, Shahbaz Ahamad, Joshua Philippe and Pavan Deshpande
