RCB Captain Fined: Virat Kohli is fined Rs.12 lakh by IPL governing council because of slow over-rate maintained by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Kings XI Punjab yesterday. Virat Kohli had one of the worst night of his IPL career. First, he dropped two catches of KL Rahul, who went on to score the first century of IPL 2020. Again when it comes to batting, Kohli got out on just one run. And now he is fined Rs.12 for slow over-rate against Kings XI Punjab.
The official statement released by IPL states, " Since this is the first offence by Kohli and his team under IPL code of conduct concerning Minimum over rate, Mr.Kohli is fined Rs.12 Lakh.
Kohli had a night to forget at Dubai International Stadium. The Indian Skipper dropped Rahul twice- first in 17th over and then again 18th over. At that time Rahul was batting on 83 runs and 89 runs respectively. The dropped catch proved costly for the side as KL Rahul went to score Maiden IPL century. Kings XI Punjab won the match by 97 runs.
Kohli said at the post-match presentation, "As the Captain and Curlprait I have to take the burns. It's not the best day in the office. A couple of dropped catches of KL Rahul costs us 30-40 runs in the later stage of the game. If we would have restricted them to 180 We would not have taken so much pressure from the first ball of the chase".
Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Mumbai Indians on September 28 at Dubai International Stadium.
