This is not the first time a captain has been replaced mid-way during the season. Right from the very first IPL season up until now, there were some bold calls that had come our way in terms of mid-way captaincy changes. Take a look at few names of them as given below:

Leaving the captaincy in the middle of the IPL began the very first IPL season of the tournament i.e. IPL 2009. Former India batsman VVS Laxman was the 1st captain who left the captaincy in the middle of the tournament. He was leading the Deccan Charges that season and Adam Gilchrist was replaced as the new captain for them. After three years, back in IPL 2012, once again the Deccan Charges team management changed their captain.

The Mumbai-based franchise and one of the most successful teams in IPL history, Mumbai Indians has also changed its captain during the season in 2013, the team snatched the captaincy from Ricky Ponting and Rohit Sharma holds the captaincy from him.

In 2015, Steve Smith was made the new captain by Rajasthan Royals. He was taken charge from Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.

Last year, Steve Smith dropped as captain of RR, Ajinkya Rahane took charge from him but the Hyderabad-based franchise couldn't finish well in the tournament.

Dinesh Karthik now became the 9th captain to leave the captaincy in the middle of the tournament. Eoin Morgan will further handle the Knight Riders side for the remaining phase of the ongoing tournament of Dream11 IPL 2020. Let's see what Morgan can do with his captaincy skills and find some way to get KKR side back on track. So, we are hoping for a bright future of Knight Riders under his leadership.
