IPL 2020 Chennai Super Kings: The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings suffered their second consecutive loss in IPL 2020. The Dhoni army was outplayed by the young boys of Shreyas Iyer team in the 7th match of the league. A sublime knock by Prithivi Shaw 64 (43) helped Delhi Capitals beat Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs. This is the second game where CSK have lost batting second. After the defeat, CSK coach Stephen Fleming admits their team is missing Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu.

Earlier this month, Suresh Raina pulled out of Indian Premier League due to attack on his in Punjab. However, speculations were raised that Raina might come back before the start of the season, but rumours settled with the commencement of IPL 2020 in UAE. Chennai Super Kings won the opening game against Mumbai Indians and it looked like the void left by Suresh Raina is fulfilled. But the hollow bubble of optimism bursts with Chennai losing the next two games while chasing.

Suresh Raina has been a key player for CSK. Raina had time and again played sublime knocks for the team and chased the gigantic target easily. This biggest problem for Chennai this season is to fill the void left by Suresh Raina. Ambati Rayudu was the top contender for Raina's position. He played against Mumbai and scored 71(48) balls to win the match for his team. However, he missed the next two games due to hamstring pull. CSK lost both the games. Things have turned all the more adverse for Chennai Super Kings after Rayudu injury.

CSK coach Stephen Fleming has admitted to the fact that the team is missing Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu.“We are missing some key players and we’re trying to find a balance that makes us competitive. Our batting line-up, without Rayudu and Raina, we are trying to find a way or a combination on how to use players. We give players opportunities early on so we know exactly what we have got as the tournament goes on,” Fleming said.

We have always got too many batting options. But we are a little bit muddled. So we need to be a little clearer with what we’re doing. “Perhaps, we are missing those bigger contributions at the top", He further added.

South African Faf Du Plessis is overburdened with run-scoring Responsibility since Captain Dhoni, veteran Watson, Kedar Jhadav etc are underperforming currently. Chennai Super Kings will play their next match against SunRisers Hyderabad on 2nd of October.
