The 13th season of the Indian Premier League has reached the halfway mark. Up to now, we have seen a lot of excited and entertaining fixtures. In the first phase, some teams performed excellently while some failed to live up to the expectations. The most astonishing thing in the first phase was the dominance of Indian uncapped players over Veterans. With experienced players struggle to find the form, uncapped players took all the limelight in the first phase.
Veterans like MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa etc struggled in the first phase. MS Dhoni scored just 112 runs in seven games. Two-time IPL champion Robin Uthappa had a drastic first half. He got dropped out of playing 11courtesy of 50 runs in five matches. Kolkata Knight Riders captain's run department remained dry in the first half. In seven matches he managed to score 108 runs only.
On the other hand, Right from Devdutt Padikkal of Royal Challengers Bangalore to Priyam Garg of SunRisers Hyderabad many uncapped players showcased their potential and dominated the first half. No doubt, they conquered the first phase of the IPL 2020. Here are few Indian uncapped players who have ravished everyone with their contribution.
1) Devdutt Padikkal (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Southpaw Padikkal made his IPL Debut against SunRisers Hyderabad in RCB's first match of the season. He scored 56 runs and became the 8th Indian player to hit a half-century on IPL debut. The youngster has played all the seven games scoring 243 runs at an average of 34.71. He is now confirmed his place in the side and accompanies Aaron Finch to open the innings for the team.
2) Ravi Bishnoi (Kings XI Punjab)
U-19 wrist spinner is a surprise package for KXIP this season. Under Anil Kumble guidance Bishnoi has taken eight wickets in seven matches. He has been a key player for KXIP and time and again did the job for the team. He got wickets of players like Warner, Pant, Bairstow etc. Sending players of such high quality boosted his confidence. He is the silver lining for struggling Kings XI Punjab.
3) Kamlesh Nagarkoti (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Nagarkoti came into the spotlight after impressive bowling in U-19 World Cup. KKR bought him 2018 but he was sidelined for due to back injury. He made his IPL debut this season against SunRisers Hyderabad. He opened his account against Rajasthan Royals ending match with 2-13 figures. Nagarkoti is backed up by the trust of Dinesh Karthik which further enhance is confidence. His will play a crucial role in KKR's race to the semifinals.
The second phase of IPL 2020 will start from Today. SunRisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings will lock horn in the first match of the second half. The match will be played at Dubai International Stadium situated in Dubai at 7:30 PM (IST) and 6:00 PM (Local Time).
