India vs England Test series: On Tuesday, the BCCI announces its 18-men Test squad for the first two Tests against England (IND vs ENG) kick-begins from Feb 5. Kohli and Co will enter into the bio-bubble by January 27 with the first two Tests to be played in Chennai. The first two games of the bilateral series will commence in Chennai and then the entire squad will be heading to Ahmedabad for the third (D/N) and fourth Test. Team India regular skipper Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, and Hardik Pandya are back in the squad. Kohli is returning after a paternity leave with the BCCI selection committee set to meet today to pick the squad for the first two Tests of the upcoming four-match series against England at home starting February 5. Kohli played in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy following which he returned home for the birth of his first child.
The 23-year-old talented youngsters Shubman Gill has climbed up the ladder with his superb initiation into Test cricket and will be the first-choice opener alongside Rohit Sharma with Mayank Agarwal making the cut as the reserve opener. And finally, India having the services of Jaspreet Bumrah and R Ashwin going into the forthcoming series against the mighty English side.
However, the likes of Mohammed Shami (forearm fracture), Ravindra Jadeja (fractured thumb), Hanuma Vihari (grade 2 muscle tear), and Umesh Yadav (calf injury) will not be available for selection.
