IND vs AUS Test Series: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) will kick off from Thursday in Adelaide and the famous Pink-ball (D/N) Test has already assumed global focus. As the Indian team management looks to firm up their opening slots for the Adelaide Test. Cricket legendary Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border are backing for the Indian young talented batsman Shubman Gill to open for India in the upcoming four-match Test series, kick-starting on Dec 17 in Adelaide.
In the practice matches, Shubman Gill showcased A well-balanced half-century (65) in the second innings shows his temperament and class with exquisite strokeplay. Gill scored 135 runs, much better than the other Indian opener Prithvi Shaw, who had scored just 62 runs in two games. Both Gavaskar and Border has picked Shubman Gill over Prithvi Shaw to partner Mayank Agarwal in the pink-ball Test starting in Adelaide on Thursday.
The right-handed batsman was one of the key performers for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the recently-concluded IPL season. Batting at the top, Gill scored 440 runs, including three fifties, in 14 matches.
"I think Shubman Gill should open with Mayank for the first Test match because he's shown good form," Gavaskar said. "Allan Border was there for the games [practice games], [and] was very impressed with what he saw from Shubman Gill. So I would imagine that he should open with Mayank Agarwal for the first Test."
