IND vs AUS 1st T20 Match: Chahal replaces Jadeja

IND vs AUS 1st T20: India defeats Australia by 13 runs and takes an early lead in the series. In the first match of the three-match T20I International bilateral series, Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to field first against India at Manuka Oval, Canberra. KL Rahul's steller half-century and a cameo by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja steers India to a respectable total of 161/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Finch and Co have lost wickets on a regular interval by virtue of which Australia fell short of 11 runs and finished their inning on 150/7 in 20 overs.

Also, this is the 9th consecutive win for India in the Twenty20 internationals. After losing the first two ODIs in Sydney, Men in Blue come with the flying colors in Canberra.

With this emphatic win over Australia, Virat Kohli-led Team India lead three-match series by 1-0. All in all, we can say that Ravindra Jadeja and his ''Concussion Substitute'' Yuzvendra Chahal have pulled off a victory in the first T20 at Canberra. Chahal was named as 'Player of the Match' with his impressive performance. Chahal finished with 3/25 from his full quota of four overs to give India a great chance of pulling the first T20. Debutant T Natarajan was also impressed with his perfect yorkers and he scalped 3/30 in his four overs.

During the match, Moises Henriques bowled an awkward bouncer in the 18th over of the Indian inning which hits on the helmet of Ravindra Jadeja and was hampered by his hamstring as well. Australian Head Coach Justin Langer, however, looked miffed and had some words exchanged with David Boon, the match referee about the incident. The referee though allowed the concussion substitute. Chahal once a part of the game, set the tone for Team India by picking up wickets at regular intervals.
