A hundred run partnership between experienced Mohammad Hafeez and Debutant Haider Ali helped Pakistan in beating England by five runs in the final game of the t20 series. With this win Pakistan has squared the three matches series at 1-1. England emerged victorious in the first match, while second was nullified due to rain.
England were on the verge of winning their 6th consecutive T20 Series, an all-round play from the men in green denied the English side. Pakistan ended their 66 days long tour with a victory. However, this is Pakistan’s only victory on the tour.
Batting first Pakistan set the total of 190 runs for England to chase. After losing Fakhar Zaman in early overs, Mohammad Hafeez and Babar Azam provided a good start to the team. Babar Azam scored 21 runs in 18 balls before he was bowled out by Tom Curran. Mohammad Hafeez was the standout star of the win, caressing an unbeaten 52-ball 86 to power his side to 190 in the second consecutive games. Debutant Haider Ali also provided support to him and scored 54 runs in 33 balls.
While chasing England's first ten overs with the bat was what cost them most dearly. The situation turned all the more adverse when Afridi bowled Jonny Bairstow with a perfect out swinging yorker. Tom Banton With his captain Eoin Morgan struck up the sort of partnership that might have put them back on track, but in form Morgan was dismissed in the worst possible way. He got run out due to misconception.
The English middle order Batsman Moeen gave a valiant fightback but his 61 runs on 33 deliveries, fell just five shy of powering England to a stunning win.
