India vs England IND vs ENG, 2nd Test Live Updates: Virat Kohli led Team India from the front, having notched his 25th Test fifty followed by R Ashwin, who also slammed his 12th Test half-century. The duo has stretched their unbreakable 96-run partnership for the seventh wicket to propel India in a precarious position in the ongoing Chennai Test. The tourists kept the wickets column ticking away until this steady stand while India will be eyeing for more runs as the lead past the 400-run mark.

India are 214/8 and leading England by 409 runs. Kohli has dismissed after scoring a steller 62 off 149 balls with seven boundaries while Ashwin is still in the middle after smoking a scintillating half-ton. Notably, this is Ashwin's first fifty-plus score since 2017. Both Kohli and Ashwin have been rock solid and looked mostly untroubled barring some deliveries that have come with awkward lengths.

Earlier on Day 3, India has lost some quick wickets in the early morning. Cheteshwar Pujara has departed cheaply, run out by the combined efforts of Pope and Foakes. India's first innings hero Rohit Sharma departed just after an unorthodox run-out, Pant's lasted only 11 balls.

Ajinkya Rahane and Axar Patel couldn't kick in as the visitors left India back only for the senior pros in Virat and Ashwin to turn the tide back in their team's favor. Jack Leach has the pick of the English bowlers as he grabbed three wickets whereas Moeen Ali took a piece.

Earlier, the second day of the ongoing Test also goes in India's favor and it started with Pant's fierce 58-run knock that helped the hosts were posted a decent 329. In reply, the visitors were skittled out for just 134 as R Ashwin picked up his 29th five-wicket haul. Axar Patel also picked a piece. Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers with 5/43. In their second innings, India takes a 249-run lead on Day 3, with 9 wickets in hand.
