Eng Vs Aus T20 2020: England beat Australia by 2 runs in a final over thriller

Australia despite starting brilliantly couldn’t continue their momentum and succumbed to pressure in death over and handed a bounteous victory to the home side.   

England made a splendid comeback to beat Australia by two runs on the final delivery of their first T20 match of the series.  David Warner astonishing inning of 66 runs in 33 balls ended in vain for the visitors.  

Aussies won the toss and invited England to bat first. English carried forward their moment gained from a series win against Pakistan. England opening batsman Jonny Bairstow journey ended early as he was caught out by Mitchel Starc on Pat Cummins delivery. Next came to the crease, David Malan. He along with Jos Buttler carry forward the innings and helped team in reaching the half century mark. David Malan scored 66 runs in 53 balls before he was sent to pavilion by Kane Richardson. After getting David Malan Australia demolished England’s middle order and restricted them to the total of 162. 

While chasing David Warner and Aaron Finch provided an adequate start to the team. Their dangerous partnership was cut short by Jofra Archer in the 11th over.  after Australia Captain Aaron Finch departure, Steve Smith came to bat. English Spinner Adil Rashid took two wickets (Steve Smith and Glen Maxwell) in quick succession and bought his team back in the game.  

With the departure of David Warner in the 16th over Australia hope of winning their first international game after six months shattered. After the end of the 19th over Australia were 148/6 and required 13 runs in last over. Marcu Stoinis  six on the 2nd ball spiked up Australia hope for the victory. Tom Curran made a brilliant comeback and gave just six in the last four deliveries and ultimately winning the game for his side.  

With this win England lead the three match series by 1-0.
