MI & KKR to resume training after Abu Dhabi quarantine norms relaxations!
Due to increasing cases in Abu Dhabi’s regional authorities have made a rapid test mandatory at every point. Six teams are in Dubai, while Mumbai Indians & Kolkata Knight Riders are in Abu Dhabi. Rajasthan Royals & Kings XI Punjab will soon start their practice in Sharjah.
A 14-day quarantine rule in Abu Dhabi has put KKR & MI, the two IPL teams based there. While remaining six teams in Dubai can start training, KKR & MI players need an extra week before they can step out of their rooms.
The BCCI & the IPL 2020 governing council held a meeting to address the issue a day after receiving MI’s grievances. Later both BCCI & the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) decided to relax the Abu Dhabi quarantine norms for Mumbai Indians & Kolkata Knight Riders franchise.
In Dubai, Rajasthan Royals & Kings XI Punjab have already begun training, the others are likely to start in the next couple of days.
The reason for KKR & MI spending an extra week without being able to train is that Dubai & Abu Dhabi have different quarantine rules. International travelers getting into Dubai need to have a Covid-19 negative test report from the point of departure and need to be quarantined till the result of the test on arrival, which is usually 48 hours. If they test negative, they don’t need to be quarantined.
Dream11 IPL 2020 which is set to be started from September 19, players & management staff have reached UAE, there is still no announcement of the schedule. The increasing cases of Covid-19 is causing delay from BCCI to announce the IPL 2020 schedule.
