Delay in IPL 2020 Schedule
Dream11 IPL 2020 which is set to be started from September 19, players & management staff have reached UAE, there is still no announcement of the schedule. The increasing cases of Covid-19 is causing delay from BCCI to announce the IPL 2020 schedule.
Due to increasing cases in Abu Dhabi’s regional authorities have made a rapid test mandatory at every point. Six teams are in Dubai, while Mumbai Indians & Kolkata Knight Riders are in Abu Dhabi. Rajasthan Royals & Kings XI Punjab will soon start their practice in Sharjah.
BCCI protocols for IPL 2020:
The IPL governing council has a set a 24-player limit for each squad & each team can have any number of substitutes. All the teams have reached UAE & are under strict quarantine. BCCI is likely to make the pre-tournament practice camps available.
This year IPL is going to be different due to Corona Virus. Covid-19 monitoring apps, Aarogya Setu (Indian app) & DBX (UAE app) are made compulsory for every player & supporting staff. Each team will have one doctor each, who will regularly check on health of the players & team management members. There will be electronic team sheets & virtual team meetings, very less use of human interaction outside the ground will be made compulsory.
The updated protocols by BCCI states that suspected or positive cases will immediately be put under isolation & will be managed by the team doctor. BCCI have named few hospitals which will be made available to handle such cases in UAE. However, all the cases will be held according to UAE government protocols.
Currently team players & staff are following the robust testing protocols set by the BCCI, teams will be under quarantine for 6 days as per the protocols. International players have started to join their respective teams.
As per Detailed Standard Operation Procedure issued by BCCI team & management staff will undergo tests on day1, day3 & day 6 of six days quarantine period in UAE.
