With African all-rounder Chris Morris emerged to be the most expensive buys in IPL history, going to Rajasthan Royals for ₹16.25 cr while K Gowtham came out to be the most expensive among 'uncapped Indian players' at the IPL 2021 auction, sold out to RR for Rs. 9.25 crore. Tamil Nadu young cricketer Shahrukh Khan also earned a whopping IPL contract (INR 5.25 crores) at the auctions.
With Punjab Kings (former Kings XI Punjab) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) being involved in a hard battle for SRK, the bidding war was finally won by KXIP as Tamil Nadu cricketers rejoiced and celebrated the success of their young emerging star. The next moment, Dinesh Karthik-led Tamil Nadu cricketers rejoiced after seeing Shahrukh Khan's colossal IPL contract.
Having gone unsold in the last auction, Shahrukh Khan, Tamil Nadu cricketer has earned his maiden IPL contract on Thursday. Shahrukh has made a mark in the domestic circuit with his scintillating performances in the middle-order and has been rewarded in the IPL 2021 auction as the KL Rahul's Punjab Kings bought the emerging star.
Dinesh Karthik, Tamil Nadu skipper, took to his official Twitter handle and captioned the post, "Turn up the volume and listen to the team's happiness for our young and emerging star."
The 25-year old star got his chance at this auction by impressing in last month’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. SRK has played some blistering knocks in the lower-middle order including a fierce knock of 40 in just 19 balls in the quarterfinal against Himachal Pradesh before sealing Tamil Nadu’s second Syed Mushtaq Ali title with an entertaining cameo against Baroda in the final.
Shahrukh Khan along with his Tamil Nadu teammates are currently preparing for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, kick begins on February 20. They all were joyous in the auction when his name came up for grabs.
Meanwhile, Shahrukh triggered a bidding war between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals after registering himself at the lowest base price of Rs 20 lakhs. In the end, Punjab Kings secured the services of the highly-rated batsman for a whopping amount of Rs 5.25 crores.
