CSK vs KXIP IPL 2020 Strengths and Weaknesses of CSK: MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will face off KL Rahul's Kings XI Punjab today at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The match will start at 6 PM Local time and 7:30 IST. This is the 2nd match from the two matches of double-header Sunday. Chennai Super Kings came out here with a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The bottom-placed teams will be fighting for their honours. So, both of them will surely be looking to grow up the table.

The Mohali-based franchise KXIP, on the other hand, have started their campaign with one loss and then they manage to win their next game. Both teams will be standing at the bottom side of the points table so far. So, both of them will be looking for a win here at the much bigger venue of Dubai.

MS Dhoni's CSK is at the bottom side of they points table while KL Rahul and Chris Gayle starter KXIP is one place above to the Super kings with just 2 points from their 4 matches played so far.

Let's look at the Strengths and weaknesses of CSK:

Strengths of Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings:

  • MS Dhoni - The Perfect Leader
Thala Dhoni - The Perfect Leader
Thala Dhoni - The Perfect Leader

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings was the most successful team in the history of the IPL. They have won three IPL titles (i.e. 2010, 2011, 2018). CSK is probably the most experienced side in the fantasy cricket league. Their strength lies in the number of experienced stars that they bought in the auction. Most of his teammates are proven match-winners, both at the league stage and in big playoff and finals games. MS Dhoni has taken CSK to eight finals in 10 seasons and has won the title three times. Moreover, under his captaincy, CSK has won 100 matches which sets a record for the most no. of wins for any side in the IPL history.

They have the quality openers such as Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, quality middle-order such as Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, and MS Dhoni with quality all-rounders in the form of Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran. The bowling too has a great mix of quality pacers and spinners. While Imran Tahir leads the spin attack, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Karn Sharma add to their strengths.

  • Lack of experience in the pace attack

Chennai Super Kings, however, struggled in the last few years in their weak and inexperienced pace attack. IPL 2019, we saw them winning just 4 matches out of their 9 away games including the playoffs. This is not a good sign for a team that has an impactful record at home. There is no doubt about the performance and abilities of their pacers like Lungi  Ngidi, Jos Hazelwood, Sam Curran and Shardul Thakur. Except for Deepak Chahar, the others may not come out good on these bouncy and seaming tracks of UAE.
