Rohit Sharma: A bill is going viral on social media platforms due to which anger is being raised on Indian players, Rohit Sharma among those cricketers. Some users on social media called it the bill of the players of Team India and claimed that they had ordered beef and pork. However, whether the bill is correct or not has not been confirmed yet. It seems that there is no end to the drama off the field ahead of the upcoming third Test between India and Australia, from January 7-11 at the SCG, Sydney. Ajinkya Rahane led Team India leveled the series with a clinical 8-wicket win at MCG before 2020's end.
'Hitman' Rohit Sharma, however, faced the most difficulties at the hands of outraged Twitterati who called him a 'hypocrite' for being vocal about animal rights and then conveniently ''Consuming Beef'' at an Australian restaurant. Moreover, Team India star batsman Rohit Sharma found some respite in his fans who came out in support of him and began trending #IStandWithRohit on Sunday.
Rohit & Co's outing turned out to be controversial as pictures of them eating indoors raised a few questions ahead of the third Test to be played in Sydney from Jan 7, 2021. As per COVID-19 protocols, players can sit outdoors in restaurants and have to avoid getting in touch with anyone outside their bio-bubble.
All hell broke out when Indian cricket team fans noticed beef consumption by the players during their recent outing. It all started when a Twitter user shared pictures of a recent outing of Team India players, including Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini, and claimed to have paid their bill as well as hugged Rishabh Pant during his interaction.
BCCI officials said, "The players were standing outside the restaurant and due to drizzle, they had gotten inside. If this is a way of trying to unsettle the team before the third Test, it's a bad ploy by Cricket Australia."
