Indian Premier League IPL 2021 Auction: A total of 292 players have been enlisted for the shortened auctions - 164 of them Indian and 125 overseas. There will also be three associate players in the auction. South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris, in only the second set of the IPL 2021 auction in Chennai, clinched the highest bid ever in the T20 history at Rs. 16.25 crore. The 33-year-old, who had a base price of only Rs. 75 lakhs, went to the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Earlier, India's flamboyant all-rounder Yuvraj Singh held the record of being the most expensive player in the tournament, having fetched 16 crore rupees in 2015. Former RR's captain Steve Smith became the first cricketer to be sold at the 'mini-auction' to the Capitals for Rs 2.2 crore. His base price was set at Rs 2 crore.

The biggest surprise has been in the case of KXIP released Glenn Maxwell, who has had a horror season in 2020 for KXIP, where he didn't even hit a six. He sold to Virat Kohli's Men in Red. Therefore, RCB have possessed Kohli, de Villiers, and now they have Maxwell in their squad. Maxwell is picked up by RCB for a mammoth INR 14.25 cr.
