BCCI earlier announced the return of women’s cricket T20 tournament to be held in November. The wave of happiness was seen amongst the players as well as the fans. As cricket enthusiasts got two big treats of T20 men's IPL & women’s T20 amid Pandemic.
After the announcement of 13th edition of men’s IPL, BCCI also announced the news of women’s T20 tournament also known as women’s IPL from November.
BCCI does not yet have any women’s selection panel, it is now surrounded with another controversy. That it may have answered the criticism of ignoring women’s cricket but now they don’t have any women’s panel.
Earlier BCCI had asked candidates with experience playing for India & who have retired at least five years ago to apply for the women’s selection post. With Covid-19 pandemic, the BCCI did not take any interview yet for the women’s selection team, but has announced about the tournament.
The previous women’s selection committee led by Hemlata Kala (Chairperson), Sashi Gupta, Lopamudra Banerjee, Sudha Shah & Anjali Pendharkar. Now, that their five-year tenure is completed, the board have to yet fill the post of women’s selection panel.
