The popular apparel & footwear Germany based sports brand Puma, could be front runner in the bagging for Indian cricket team kit’s sponsorship. While another footwear & apparel sports brand Adidas could also enter for the bid.
It's not yet confirmed that the former Indian kit sponsor Nike would re-bid, after refusing BCCI’s scaled down bid offer from their 370 Crore plus 30 Crore royalty, which they paid for 2016 to 2020.
As far as Puma is concerned it has increased its interest in India market over the years especially through IPL, as now they have Indian skipper Virat Kohli as their brand ambassador along with KL Rahul.
Puma has also been part of IPL for some years now. Virat Kohli being their main face, it may enhance their presence in Indian market.
BCCI in its new bid has kept a base price of Rs 61lakh per match compared to last time it was 88 lakhs.
